I decided that I wanted to infuse a little purpose into my sewing. I love the inspired sewing but wanted to balance it a little with the challenge of repurposing things that no longer have life as they are.
Years ago when long maxi dresses were all the rage I bought this maxi dress.
It was worn a lot and even by my oldest daughter in our family pictures.
The dress has been around for years and it was about to be added to the pile of clothes going to the goodwill. The thing is, you never know if what you donate will really end up getting reworn or if it will end up in the landfill. Looking at the dress I realized that I could find new life for the dress here in my home.
I cut it up into comfy pants for my five year old!
He loves his comfy pants and it makes me happy to see him zipping around the house in something that would have otherwise landed in the landfill. I have a long way to go in the reduce, reuse and recycle category, but this was a step in the right direction.
The shirt he is wearing I made from my old black, knit maxi skirt! Refashion for the win!
