I recently took a trip to Minnesota and of course had to make a stop at my favorite fabric store, SRHarris. This trip felt very different. Now that Joann has closed the parking lot of SRHarris was packed. Even though the store has been there since I was a child, and finding a parking spot was always a given, it’s now packed. People have stumbled upon this gem of a store in their search to source fabrics after the void that Joann caused.
While the busyness was new so was how I felt. I bought way more than I normally do and veered away from my preferred method of not adding to my stockpile because now we do actually need to stockpile fabric when we have the opportunity. I feel anger towards Joann for driving so many places out of business and then failing to keep it afloat. For many people, that was their access to the supplies that they needed not only for hobbies but businesses and livelihoods as well. I know we will all adapt and eventually other business will form to fill the gap, but the greed of corporations becoming huge and then mismanaging things and failing their costumers just gets old.
I picked up several fabrics, actually a whole suitcase full and this knit with embroidered flowers was one. I knew I wanted it to be a robe and I bought the perfect amount. I had this red poly in my stash that complimented it perfectly.

I did do a muslin of the pajama pattern because I made some adjustments. I added an 1 1/2 of length to the torso and added a built in shelf bra. The mock up turned out great and after sleeping in it for a night I decided it was a keeper. I also added 1 1/2 inches of length to the sleeves of the robe. It fits great and I love it. The only issue I had with the pattern is that it didn’t include loops for the robe tie, but those are easy enough to add.
Pattern used: McCall’s M8245
