I’ve been wanting some knit wrap dresses. I love my knit bathrobe and I want some clothes that feel similar to that. McCalls M8379 was a pattern I picked up from a thift store for a dollar. At first I thought about doing a really psychedelic fabric but ultimately went with a solid because the pairing felt forced.
I’ve made wrap dresses and shirts in the past but this construction was very new to me. When attaching the bodice to the skirt they are actually offset and that really threw me for a bit. I really had to study the pattern to understand what it was that they were having me do. One side of the bodice does not have anything attached to it. I’ve never seen anything wrap like this and I’m wondering if it is actually better for keeping the skirt from opening. I’ll have to wear it and report back.
