Earlier this year I was on a hunt for knit dresses for travel. I didn’t have enough time balancing school and family to sew all the dresses I needed for my trip to Spain, so I ordered some off of Amazon. Most of them worked fine for the trip but the fabric was not up to my normal standards and illustrated why fast fashion is such a problem. One barely made it a couple of washings before it looked so old and haggard.
Now that I’m out of school, I’m on the hunt for my favorite knit dress patterns for all seasons. This Ellie and Mac pattern was a very affordable option to try. This is my first attempt at a pattern by this company and three things are immediately notable. First of all, all of their patterns are very affordable. As of typing this, this pattern is on sale for $2.00, it’s normally $8.95 but the company frequently runs sales and always has weekly $2.00 pattern sales. Second, the instructions were good and easy to follow. Lastly, this pattern goes up to size 6x, great size inclusion! It’s always great to see companies providing for sewists of all sizes.
This was a fast easy make and is very comfortable. This will be a great fall look with leggings and boots. I’m such a sucker for dressed up looks that also feel like you are wearing pajamas. This is as comfortable as my favorite nightgown.
Next up is the Laurel dress by Styla. I’m making the sleeveless version for layering and summer wear.
