Simplicity 8605 and a new direction

A bonus inspiration piece, Simplicity 8605 was a quick make that I felt compelled to make after seeing it on Emily Hallman’s instagram page.  She’s fun to follow so check her out, her instagram is emilyhallmandesigns.  img_6972img_6958img_6944img_6917

Frankly, I’m not sure it’s a pants pattern for my body type.  I wish I’d added more length to the legs but I’m not likely to make it again.  I made them out of a linen rem I picked up in Minnesota at S.R. Harris.  This is a great beginner pattern I’d recommend for petite and short wasted women.

I think I’m slowly but surely cracking the code on why I’m sewing less.  I really tried to move my sewing in a more practical direction but my whole life is practical.  Sewing was filling the whimsy and fun side of life.  Sewing had been artful and creative and I robbed something from it by trying to force it into a practical skill rather than a fun outlet.  With that being said, I think it’s time to scrap my 2019 plans and come up with a new sewing focus and goal.
