I’m back to sewing! There have been many life changes, vacations and events that have taken my focus, but the last couple of weeks have allowed for many hours in the sewing room.
I was eyeing the Tavira pattern from Styla last summer but didn’t get the chance to plunge into making it. I found the time this June and dove right in with four versions. I started with this one. I tried to make it with the built in bra but I grossly miscalculated how high/low my breasts are and apparently they are higher than I thought they would be. I had to rip out the thoroughly sewn in cups and opted to go without for this version. There’s built in shorts and this make feels amazing in the 90-100 degree Texas, summer weather.

I actually didn’t mind wearing it without a bra but I decided to attempt the built in bra once more. I made my second version and it turned out adorable. The built in bra was successful and I’m so happy with it.

I made another pink one, this time tie die with some cheap fabric I’d gotten and the built in bra went even smoother this time around.

The final one I made was out of this adorable eyelet knit fabric I bought from Alyssa Mae Designs. I loved the fabric and had no idea what I was going to make with it. It’s see through so it poses some unique challenges. Since this is a lined dress I decided to attempt it with this pattern. The next complication, of course, is the built in bra usually goes between the lining and the fabric ,but in this case it had to go against the skin because otherwise it would have shown through the eyelet holes.

This is my absolute favorite one. I think it is so cute, fun, feminine and perfect for summer.
