McCall’s M7538

IMG_1745

This past weekend I received an exciting message.  The Minerva Crafts Store invited me to join their makers team.  They are sending fabric as I type for me to make up for them.  I’m so freaking excited.  Of course, I’d love to start on those projects but since they are somewhere in route, I’m sewing up my current fabrics.

I LOVE easy to wear, comfy summer dresses.  I don’t love sewing knits but I’m forcing myself outside of my comfort zone, trying to become better with them.  Yesterday, I sewed up McCall’s M7523.  I made size 14 and I’m 5’9″, weigh about 160 lbs and usually wear RTW size 8-10.  I added three inches to the length but that was the only adjustment that I made.

The pattern was easy to make.  Before cutting I used my own personal croquis I purchased from My Body Model.  I drew out a quick version of the dress to determine stripe placement.  Clearly stripe placement would make or break this make.  I needed to see them visually before I cut so I’d feel confident that the outcome would be visually pleasing.

I love result.

I love this side by side of my drawing with the finished garment!
