It’s Done!
So here it is! From family and friends it got mixed reviews. Some liked it, others weren’t fans. I like it, but what do you think?
So what did I think of the pattern? It was hard. The neckline was extremely difficult for me. I’m so glad I did it, but I did call my mom as I worked on the neckline and said, “I WISH YOU WERE HERE!” I wanted help because when I was growing up and sewing things she totally bailed me out when I was stumped. As I vented on the phone I started to figure it out.
I’m happy with how it turned out and I did figure out the neckline and peek-a-boo shoulders.
The only deviation I made was how I did the loops for the buttons. It instructs you to create these . . .
But I did this instead . . .
I attempted the instructed version but quickly decided my time was better spent elsewhere. I sewed a gold stretchy notion on instead. I’m happy with how it turned out. I wish I would have had the presence of thought to add them earlier in the seam itself but they don’t show. I used fray check on the ends and love the total result.
Next weeks project is this. I got the fabric in the Dallas fabric district over spring break for $2 a yard. Everybody asked what I wanted for my birthday and were slightly horrified to find out that my dream was digging through the piles at the fabric district. But I got amazing deals, fun fabrics and am still working on sewing them all up. Next weeks dress cost me less than $15 dollars!
