Top 5 Projects . . .

This McCall’s jacket is my most worn make.  It hits all three main points of self sewing.  It fits great, it’s comfy and it looks amazing.  It’s hard to hit all of those all the time.  Fabric doesn’t always meet the vision when sewn up, fit can be tricky and comfy doesn’t always translate to classy but this make is a home run in every way.

My favorite shorts pattern so far.  I’ve nearly worn these out already.  I have plans to make more, I love them.  I wish they had pockets but the fit, comfort and look just can’t be beat.

It’s truly hard to pick just three top favorites.  This dress was a last minute, repurpose that worked out better than I could dream.  The fabric was originally purchased for pants but my pants construction was poor and was put off in favor of developing other skills.  I made the fabric into this dress and couldn’t be happier with the result. I feel beautiful in it, it fits amazingly and it’s very flattering.  And it has pockets!

I’m obsessed with these pajamas.  I wear them almost everyday and making a second pair is a TOP priority.  Having something that fits right is just such a pleasure and lounging in these pajamas just makes my heart happy.

Making a sexy and yet modest dress is in my opinion a huge win.  A dress that feels amazing and yet covers everything just screams class and that’s why this is a top pick.

Things I’ll Never Wear . . .

This McCall’s number just didn’t meet my vision.  I enjoyed making it because the neckline was such a challenge but this dress will likely never be worn in public.  The shirt I made with the scraps I wear all the time but I’m not in love with this one and don’t feel that it’s flattering.

I gave this shirt to my oldest daughter, I loved making it but I didn’t love the style on me.  She was excited and her friends marveled at her having a “one of a kind” piece of clothing.

I LOVE how the top of this one piece came out but I never loved how the pants fit.  I took them apart after the week was over and tried refitted them a couple of times.  I’ve never been please with the fit.  The pattern is also a dress pattern, if I would have had more fabric I would have made the skirt instead.  I still may find a coordinating fabric someday and make the top into a dress.

Next up . . .

Wondering what’s next?  I’ve thought a lot about that.  I have a few ideas.  I thought about challenging myself to one thing a day for a month.  That would require a lot of planning and thought.  I’ve thought about creating my own designs, getting more theme oriented, or sewing for my friends to give myself some experience dressing and sewing for more than just my body type.  I’m not sure yet what I’m going to go with.  I think I’ll take a month off and just sew for fun as I hone in on what I want my next goal for myself to be.  Thanks for following along with the journey.  I’m excited to show you what’s next . . . after I figure it out for myself.  See you soon!
